Truthfully Answer This Question...

f you landed an assistant coaching job with an AFL club this year, and spent the whole season listening to andlearning from the expert coaches already at the club, do you think you would be a better coach by the end of it?

Don’t you think your coaching would improve significantly after such an experience?

After you saw all the pioneering things they were doing at training to improve skills, fitness and game sense... after the coaches revealed their secret game day tactics to you in intimate detail and explained why and how they worked... after you sat in the coaches’ box and saw how the coaches responded firsthand to real life game situations...

Wouldn’t you agree that you would be a far better coach at the end of this experience?

And that by putting this new found knowledge to use at your community team, your team’s performance would dramatically improve as a result?

Well unfortunately, you may never get the chance to enjoy such an experience.

... But now you can have the next best thing by joining us at our first ever “Coaching Bootcamp” for footy coaches.

This special seminar event will bring together a team of 5 expert football coaches with real AFL and WAFL experience, all for you to learn from over a full day of interactive presentations.

In short, they will reveal their secrets to:

Kicking more goals,

Controlling the midfield,

Defending key opposition forwards,

Getting the most out of your training sessions,

Developing fitter, stronger players,

And More...

At last, here is your chance to benefit from the elite football knowledge our panel of expert coaches with real coaching experience from the AFL and WAFL.

And if you order before midnight on Sunday the 8th of February, you can take advantage of our special early bird deal and get your ticket for a fraction of the price.

Plus it's all guaranteed so you there is no risk whatsoever if you decide to come along.

So Why A Bootcamp For Coaches?

My name is David Johnson. I’m a Level 3 Coach formerly with East Fremantle and Perth in the WAFL.

When I first started my coaching career almost 15 years ago, I digested everything I could possibly find on coaching.

I read just about every book I could get my hands on, went over the material from my coaching courses over and over again, and picked the brains of as many senior coaches as I could.

But it wasn’t until I was lucky enough to get a junior coaching job in the WAFL that I started to truly understand what coaching was all about.

It was there that I was lucky enough to work with and learn from expert WAFL coaches with real coaching experience in the AFL.

... In my role, I was also lucky enough to be shown around a number of different AFL clubs, sitting through their training sessions, being briefed on their cutting edge training strategies and given an insider’s view on the game day strategies they were using and why.

I was given play books, drills, and strategies from WAFL, VFL and even some AFL clubs.

I was also given opportunities to sit in AFL coaches boxes on game day to see how they coach and organise their teams in real life.

And I was given all this so I could take it all back to my WAFL clubs and put it into practice.

But what I also learnt from the experience is that you can only gain so much from today’s books.

Experts Agree: There Is Only Way To Truly “Unlock” Your Hidden Coaching Potential...

Like I said, before I entered the WAFL system, I had read just about every book that had ever been published on football.

In fact, you would not have found a coach more determined than I was about learning how to coach.

But this “book” knowledge paled into insignificance with the knowledge I picked up working with and learning from other coaches in the WAFL and AFL.

Firstly, our game evolves so quickly nowadays that it could be years before some of the real pioneering training and game day strategies are published in a book.

Where can you read a detailed explanation of Clarkson’s “Cluster” or Neil Craig’s “tempo footy” strategies for example? Or what about how to develop a sprint program for your players? Or even an effective weights program based on what they are doing in the AFL?

The fact is, the real cutting edge stuff just isn’t in any of the books out there – at least that I could find any way!

Secondly, you can’t compare the “theoretical knowledge” you read in a book from the insightful “hands on knowledge” you pick up from seeing a strategy in action with your own eyes, or having it explained to you in painstaking detail by an expert coach themselves.

Believe me, if you want to take you and your team to the next level, the only way to do it is to learn from the expert coaches in the AFL and state leagues.

Of course, not everyone can be as lucky as I have been and get this opportunity.

But now you can enjoy the next best thing.

Because on Sunday the 22nd of February 2009, we’re assembling an expert team of coaches for you to come and learn from.

Each coach has a unique specialist knowledge of the major parts of our game – forwards, midfielders, backs, and strength and conditioning.

And we’re bringing these coaches together as part of a special “Coaching Bootcamp” we are putting on for coaches.

We guarantee the information and skills you will learn at our bootcamp will revolutionize the way you coach and train your team this year.

So if you are truly serious about coaching, I urge you to join us on Sunday February 22 at Morris Buzzacott Reserve, Kardinya, WA.

(9.00 am to 4.00 pm)

Here's your special invitation to come join us at our first ever Coach AFL "Coaching Bootcamp".

Being able to work with and learn from coaches like these when I was coaching in the WAFL really took my abilities to another level, and I hope you enjoy the same amazing experience when you join us at the Coach AFL "Coaching Bootcamp".

In fact, I would have killed for an opportunity like this when I first started coaching.

Enjoy a full-day watching, listening and talking to coaches with real AFL and WAFL experience.

You will not be disappointed!

Pick The Brains Of Our Expert Coaching Panel

Our bootcamp is designed to be more hands on than anything you may have attended before.

It won’t be just someone standing up in front of a speech box and reading from a script. Of course, there will be some power points and white boarding to explain how the strategies work and the principles behind them.

... But there will also be real life demonstrations and audience participation as well.

We will go out onto the football oval at different stages during the day to demonstrate some of the strategies and training methods being discussed. You will get to see them first hand being performed live in front of your very eyes.

You can exchange ideas, ask questions, and get the guidance and feedback you need as each coach delivers their feature presentations.

Everything possible has been done to maximize your learning experience so you can walk away with real strategies you can implement in your training sessions and game play the very next day.

And with this in mind, let me introduce you to our expert coaching panel - and what they will be covering.

Presentation # 1: Secrets To Defensive Coaching
- with Chris Waterman

You might know Chris “Muddy” Waterman as the Senior Coach of the Peel Thunder Football Club in the WAFL.

Chris has been a part of AFL football for over half of his life. He was recruited by the East Fremantle Football Club at the age of 15 where he played colts, reserves and eventually 61 senior games.

He was later drafted to the West Coast Eagles, and under the guidance of coaches John Todd and Mick Malthouse, went on to play a total of 177 matches including 22 AFL finals, 3 Grand Finals, and 2 Premierships, along with earning 'Life Membership'.

Chris’s coaching career later began in 1999 when he took the role as the defensivecoach of his former club, the West Coast Eagles. It continued in 2001 when he was appointed as the defensive coach of theFremantle Dockers until the end of 2005, before leaving to coach Peel Thunder.

Chris also coached both the 2004 and 2005 Western Australian State teams and was assistant coach for the 2007 and 2008 State Team.

During his time as Defensive Coach with both the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers, Chris learned a thing or two about coaching defenders, and he will share this with you at our Bootcamp.

Here is a sneak peak of what you’ll discover:

Presentation # 2: Secrets To Midfield Coaching
 - with Simon Eastaugh

Simon first developed his football knowledge as an AFL ruckman, playing with the Fremantle Dockers, Essendon and Richmond in the late 1990s and early 2000's...

After finishing his AFL playing career, Simon took on an assistant coaching role with theDockers where he worked as ruck and rehabilitation coach. It was here that he began perfecting his midfield coaching knowledge, working with the Dockers rucks and midfield.

He eventually left the Dockers to coach the Perth Football Club in the WAFL, and in 2007 was an assistant coach for the WAFL state team that played a representative VFL side.

During his footy career, Simon has personally played with or studied under some of the most intuitive football minds in modern football including Kevin Sheedy, Mark Harvey, Chris Connolly, Ben Allen, Alan Jeans and more...

Simon will be sharing with his some of the key insights to training and coaching the midfield during his AFL and WAFL coaching careers, including:

Presentation # 3 - Secrets To Coaching Fowards
 - with Simon Goosey

The Age newspaper in Melbourne recently wrote this about our next coach, Simon Goosey, before he put on the boots and played in the AFL Legends game a few years ago.

“The name Simon Goosey may not mean much to Melbourne footy folk but down Mornington Peninsula way, he is held in such high esteem that the locals rate him as their equivalent of Peter Hudson and Gary Ablett. High praise indeed, but when you have kicked 1500 goals, including 10 season hauls of 100 or more (and a Fred Fanning-esque match best of 18), who could argue?

Well, Goosey never made it to AFL level, although he did have two years with Richmond under 19s and spent 1990 with Geelong reserves, but finally will be able to show just how good he is - and in front of a big TV audience, too - when he plays for Victoria in the AFL Legends match at Telstra Dome tonight.”

- The Age Newspaper

Now we can tell you that “Goose” (as we call him), has also done more than just kick goals. He is known as one of the best and most sought after goal kicking coaches in the AFL.

He has been hired by a number of AFL Clubs to improve the scoring efficiency of their forwards including the Western Bulldogs in 2006/2007 and Hawthorn during their 2008 pre-season (their Premiership year).

"How To Improve Your Goal Kicking"

I’ve been lucky to speak with Goose at length and heard some amazing stories about what Alistair Clarkson and Rodney Eade were doing at their respective clubs when he was there.

Which made him a prime candidate for our bootcamp.

So we are flying the “Goose” over from his busy schedule in Melbourne so he can reveal to you the forward line strategies he has used at and learned from these AFL clubs, including:

An insider’s look into Goosey’s goal kicking program for AFL Forwards, including a sample program to bring back to your team.

Effective goal kicking technique and how to straighten up your shots on goal.

Forward training strategies to get the most out of your training sessions.

What a forward coach should do on match days.

Key performance indicators for your forward line. What stats to keep on game day to measure your team’s performance.

How to develop your forward line structures including real life examples.

The what ifs, including what to do when your forward line isn’t functioning, when your forwards are too short, too tall, and too slow.

And more…

Presentation # 4 - Secrets To Strength and Conditioning Training
 - with Dave Kinsella

As you know, Australian rules football is one of the fittest team sports in the world. Where else in the world would a player run 16 kilometers in a game, right?

Which is why most elite level coaches know that strength and conditioning is one of the most important aspects of our game. Get it right, and your team will run your competition into the ground and give you a massive advantage over your competition.

Which is why we have convinced Chris Dorman to join us at our "Coaching Bootcamp". Dave is the Strength and Conditioning coach with the East Fremantle Football Club in the WAFL.

Chris is the strength and conditioning coach at the West Perth Football Club in the WAFL and also for the Western Force Development Squad with the Rugby Union Super 14s.

Interestingly, I have seen a number of different programs from a number of different elite strength and conditioning coaches, but I rate Chris's programs as some of the best going around.

This is not surprising as Chris is also on the cutting edge of sport science, recently completing a degree in Sports Science from Edith Cowan University.

In fact, don't be surprised if you see his name attached to an AFL Club one day soon.

At our bootcamp, we will be twisting Chris's arm to reveal:

Modern day strategies for preseason training. What to do and why. Includes a sample program for your team this year.

Different fitness tests for pre-season training including discussion on time trials, the beep test and the yoyo test.

How much time to allocate towards the main areas of fitness and conditioning, strength-work and ball work.

Why coaches should focus on work to rest ratios, not just distance running.
How to keep your player's fitness up during the in-season.

How much weight training player's should be doing and why.

Some of football's biggest myths and mistakes behind strength and conditioning training.
How to run recovery sessions to prevent injury. Plus when to run them for your players.
Dynamic warm up sessions and why jogging and stretching are now a thing of the past.

And more…

Presentation # 5 - Secrets To Developing a Physical Presence and Tackling Skills, with Dr Les Fabre

To round off the day we have got Dr Les Fabre from the Western Australian Football Commission. Dr Fabre has been a strength and conditioning coach for the East Perth Football Club in the WAFL and the WA under 18’s State representative side.

He has also published two manuals on behalf of the WAFC titled ‘Building Physical Presence Skills (for Auskick, Junior and Youth Football)’ and 'Building Balance, Agility and Strength for Juniors in Sport'.

He is a consultant to Junior and Senior football clubs throughout the Perth metro area and the South West including WAFL league clubs, PSA schools (Aquinas, Trinity, Guildford, Wesley) and regional squads (like Peel, Claremont and Swan Districts).

As a fitness coach he has planned and conducted pre-season training programs, all year round physical conditioning of Colts and Senior players, pre Match warm-up and cool-down exercises and drills, and specialised injury rehabilitation programs for individuals and groups.

But in this presentation, Dr Fabre will be going into how to develop tackling and physical presence in your players.

Why is this important? Well think of the West Coast Eagles in the early 1990's, Kangaroos in the late 1990's and more recently Brisbane in the early 2000's. The one thing that set these teams apart was their physical presence.

These teams seemed to be bigger and stronger than anyone else. They had superior body strength in marking contests, always stayed on their feet in tackles, and were always hard to knock off the ball during contested possessions.

And Dr Fabre will reveal exactly how you can develop the same sorts of attributes in your players. You'll discover:

How to prevent the dreaded osteitis pubis, particularly in young players.

How to improve your players strength at the body on body contests.

How to train and enhance tackling skills in players.

How to develop core strength and physical presence on the field.

Plus much more.

NOTE - Dr Fabre will be delivering a similar presentation at this year's $320 a head AFL Coaching Conference. But you get to see it for a fraction of that price.

What Would a Small 10% Improvement in These Areas Mean To Your Team This Season?

Imagine walking away from our Bootcamp and implementing some of the pioneering insights and strategies being used in the AFL today into your team.

What would it mean to your season this year?

Well just imagine it meant a small, but realistic 10% improvement in the key areas of the midfield, forwards and backs.

Let’s imagine that your midfield is now operating more effectively and running harder and longer than ever before. As a result they are now winning 10% more possessions than last year, translating into 10% more inside 50s for your team and 10% less for the opposition.

Lets also imagine that your forward line is now operating better with your improved set ups, and as a result are converting 10% more shots on goal from forward entries, and are 10% more accurate with their goal kicking.

And let’s also imagine your defenders are stopping opposition forward lines 10% better by reducing the number of shots on goal they are having from inside 50s, and reducing their conversion rate with more pressure on their kicks.

With a 10% improvement in these key areas, this is how much better your team should be this year.

Last Years Team This Years Team (with a 10% improvement)
Midfield
% of Possessions won in midfield 50% 55%
Forwards
Forward line inside 50s 50 55
Conversions of inside 50s to Shots on goal 30
@ 60% conversion
36
@ 66% conversion
Conversions of shots on goal to goals 15 goals 15 point
@ 50% conversion
19 goals 16 points
@ 55% conversion
Defenders
Opposition inside 50s 50

45
Opposition conversions of inside 50s to Shots on goal 30
@ 60% conversion

24
@ 54% conversion

Opposition conversions of shots on goal to goals 15 goals 15 point
@ 50% conversion
11 goals 13 points
@ 45% conversion

This means a small and realistic improvement of just 10% in these 3 key areas can translate into a 51 point improvement in scoring differential from last year.

Of course, we can’t guarantee that your team will get this result from the bootcamp. But we can guarantee you will now have you the tools to noticeably improve your team’s performance.

How far you and your team then go is up to you and your players.

One things for sure though, by seizing this opportunity and joining us on February 22, you will be giving your team every chance to improve and succeed in 2009.

So, I urge you to register: Don't wait one more moment to get your ticket before our Early Bird offer expires, and you have to pay full price.
